Origins:
Growing up surrounded by the rolling hills and rich landscapes of Wiltshire, I developed an insatiable curiosity for the past. As a Historian, I quickly realised how little textile history had survived archaeologically. Fragments of fabric and the occasional spindle told faint tales of those who came before us, but their voices were often lost amid the echoes of more prominent historical accounts.
Through crafting artisanal handspun yarns, I aimed to bridge the gap between the past and the present. Each skein I created became a tribute to the heritage of fibre arts, a unique embodiment of the skills honed by countless generations. My work seeks to celebrate and preserve the techniques that transcended time, allowing today’s crafters a tangible connection to the artistry of yesteryears.
In this journey, I strive not only to share my passion for textile history but also to make the beauty of handspun yarns accessible to all. By encouraging a new appreciation for these fibres and the narratives they carry, I hope to weave together a community that respects our crafting heritage while creating new stories for future generations. Through the act of spinning, we are not merely crafting; we are engaging in a dialogue with history, one thread at a time.
We hope you find Spinning Through Time yarns a joy to create with. We can’t wait to see what you make.
